I called Mac OutPost (they're an authorized apple service center for Macs in my city), and they told me the ENTIRE logic board would need to be replaced, at the tune of $1000. So, I'm positive it's the MagSafe Port, which I know requires opening the computer and replacing the I/O board. Tried my girlfriend's Magsafe Adapter, and same problem. Charger had some damage on the pins as well.įirst thing I did, I replaced the MagSafe Adapter. The plastic around the isnide of the port is completely melted and absent. Noticed that in the magsafe port, the plastic part was partially melted on the end, 2 of the pins are burnt on top, and 2 of the pins have actual brown burn marks. Eventually, my charging became intermittent, and would only work if some kind of object or if my finger was right underneath the cord where it connects to the macbook.

My magsafe connector (end that plugs into magsafe port) started to overheat pretty bad, and I started noticing a trend in this, but it still continued to work fine. I purchased my Air a few years ago new, and never had any problems up until a few months ago.

I am currently almost two years out of warranty, so warranty repair is out of the question. I have a Macbook Air 13 inch, Mid 2011, model A1369.
